Areas of Specialisation

Victoria took tenancy in chambers following successful completion of her pupillage. She is predominantly a criminal law practitioner, prosecuting and defending in the Youth, Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. Victoria is also instructed in prison law matters and advises on judicial review.

Defending

Prior to starting her pupillage Victoria worked for a firm of criminal defence solicitors. This enabled Victoria to form a realistic view of all aspects of defence practice at an early stage in her career. She now defends in a wide variety of criminal cases from dishonesty matters to sexual offences.
Victoria believes in pro-active case management and will provide frequent and thorough advice throughout the life of any case in which she is instructed.

Prosecuting

Recently Victoria spent time on secondment with the Central London Prosecution Service. Treated as a Senior Crown Prosecutor she was assigned a case load and also worked as a member of the case progression team. This experience gave Victoria an exceptional insight into the running of the CPS and its connected organisations.
Victoria has also completed a secondment to the Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office where she assisted in a vast range of cases including benefit frauds, drug importations, tax, VAT and intra-stat offences. She advised on and prepared cases from charge through to confiscation. Her knowledge of these offences was enhanced by attending in-house training courses.

Recent cases include:

R v A (Inner London Crown Court) – Counsel for a 15 year old male of good character who was charged with an armed robbery
R v B (Harrow Crown Court) – Counsel for a defendant in possession of ammunition
R v S (Maidstone Crown Court)- Counsel for a grandmother accused of importation offences
R v A (Reading Crown Court)- Counsel for a defendant accused of fraud
