Areas of Specialisation

Sarah was taken on as a tenant following successful completion of her pupillage at 2 Paper Buildings and thereafter has built an extensive criminal practice, both prosecuting and defending, and, appearing in the Youth, Magistrates’ and Crown Courts as well as the Court of Appeal.

Sarah also undertakes prison law work, with a particular interest in parole hearings.

Sarah has conducted a vast range of cases covering dishonesty matters, sexual offences, violent offences and drugs matters. Sarah has also conducted confiscation proceedings, including those in Very High Costs Cases.

Sarah enjoys all aspects of oral and written advocacy and having won the Opinion Writing Competition on her Bar Vocational Course prides herself on her ability to convey legal advice in a practical way. Sarah also particularly enjoys legal argument.

Sarah has a friendly and professional approach and is able to adapt to the needs of her different lay clients as well as utilising her cross-examination skills according to the nature of the witness be that an expert or a child complainant.

Sarah is well able to appreciate the complexities and demands of the work of her professional clients, as, prior to life in chambers, Sarah worked for a city-based firm of criminal defence and prison law solicitors where she was responsible for a full caseload of matters, from driving cases through to high-profile fraud cases and covering adjudications to lifer paroles. Sarah is also a member of our Immigration & AsylumTeam and is co-presenting a Seminar on this topic in October 2007.

Sarah was awarded the Diplock Scholarship from the Middle Temple which, in the interviewing panel’s words, recognised her “passion” for the law.
