A senior common law barrister with considerable experience in high profile defence and prosecution cases, Patrick has particular experience in complex commercial fraud, murder, rape, armed robbery, blackmail, drug trafficking and child abuse cases.
He acted for the defence in the Angry Brigade and the Annie Maguire trials. Amongst Patrick's notable successes in the Court of Appeal was R v Hancock (1990) 3 All 183, a case involving 'treasure trove' . Patrick is regularly instructed as a leading junior in a range of cases including fraud. He has also built up an expertise in correct statistical extrapolations involved in DNA cases.
More recently, he was briefed to appear in the Luton Airport hijack case and has acted as leading junior in several "Snakehead" and Triad cases, including the A12 murder case.
He is fully conversant with Word, Excel, Via Voice and Dragon Dictate. He subscribes to Lawtel and CaseTrack and is familiar with the use of free internet sources for House of Lords and Court of Appeal decisions, European Cases, Statutory Instruments, Times Law Reports and Scots cases.
In civil matters, Patrick is regularly engaged in actions for malicious prosecution, false imprisonment and child abuse. He is currently pursuing an Article 3 point with the European Court.
