Nishan graduated from Cardiff Law School, but before commencing pupillage, extensively toured around Sri Lanka and worked for the Law and Society Trust in Colombo (an NGO).
He thereafter worked as a legal assistant to the Overseas Doctors’ Association and assisted in the representation of Doctors who found themselves before the General Medical Council and before other local tribunals.
Nishan has been a member of Chambers since June 2006 and had already established an excellent Immigration and Human Rights practice together with a solid criminal practice having prosecuted for the CPS in Essex for two years at his previous chambers and has appeared in multi handed matters before the Crown Courts.
He regularly appears before the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, Administrative Court and more recently the Court of Appeal. Nishan leads the Immigration & Asylum Team at Chambers.
Nishan promotes excellent client care, irrespective of the complexity of a case, and insists on conferences for all clients prior to any hearing. He is instrumental in the preparation of witness statements and bundles for all clients, as this demonstrably maintains his excellent appeal success rate.
Nishan is a multi lingual and speaks French, Spanish, Japanese (basic conversational) and Tamil (almost fluently).
