Argent Chambers' success in the Supreme Court

On 19th November the UK’s new Supreme Court gave judgement in the extradition case of Louca v The Public Prosecutor of Bielefeld, Germany, in which Daniel Jones appeared as junior counsel for respondent. The case concerned complex issues of EU law, German tax law. However, the sole issue before the Supreme Court was the validity of the European arrest warrant, issued by Germany for the extradition of the appellant. The Supreme Court found for the respondent, ordering that extradition of the appellant.

The case is a sign of Argent’s growing expertise in extradition law. This year has also seen Louisa Collins appearing as junior counsel in Dytlow and Dytlow, the leading case concerning the extradition of those who have been granted asylum in the UK. Daniel Jones is currently instructed as junior counsel in the Administrative Court in a case involving an unlawful extradition to Hungary. He is also instructed counsel for a British woman who is wanted for extradition to Argentina for allegations of drug smuggling.
