R v El-Sheikh (Central Criminal Court) October 2009

In October 2009 at the Old Bailey, Head of Chambers Harendra de Silva QC represented one of three defendants acquitted of murder in the Loftus Road shooting on Christmas Eve 2008. One other defendant was convicted.

The victim was gunned down by two gunmen, with five shots to the body and head, a short distance from QPR Stadium. He was unloading his Christmas shopping from the boot of his car.

The police investigation was carried out by Operation Trident.
