Defendant charged with rape of his then 15 year old daughter in 2004. The defendant had been estranged from his daughter since she was two years old. The rape was alleged to have taken place on the first weekend they had been reunited in a flat borrowed by the defendant for the evening of his daughter’s visit to him. The defendant denied any sexual contact with the complainant. The defendant’s initial conviction was quashed because of errors in the trial judge’s summing up (Counsel for the appellant - Nick Wayne). The defendant was acquitted by the jury at the subsequent retrial.
