Alex Goudie, instructed by the London Borough of Newham, successfully prosecuted three defendants in respect of a £200,000 fraud perpetrated against the local authority.

The fraud involved an employee of Newham Council fraudulently manipulating the Council's Housing Benefit system resulting in gross overpayments of Housing Benefit being paid to two local landlords.

All three defendants were sentenced to periods of imprisonment and confiscation proceedings are ongoing.
