Members of Chambers undertake prison law advocacy across the range of in-prison hearings, including adjudications and oral lifer, parole and recall panel hearings. The prison law team are also regularly instructed to advise in relation to available remedies in respect of all problems encountered by prisoners. Our prison law team is regularly instructed in Judicial Review proceedings, most commonly in the form of a review of the decisions of prison governors in HDC, ROTL, Re-categorisation matters and the decisions of the Parole Board. Our prison law team are also able to undertake civil actions against the prisons for breach of their duty of care.
